Lithuania is among world leaders in 4G availability

OpenSignal survey on 4G availability has found Lithuania to be the first in Europe and the third in the world, just behind South Korea and Japan.

This publication has been made following the assessment of 17 billion measurements conducted in July-September this year by 0.5 million mobile Internet users. The data collected by OpenSignal has shown that 85 % of the user devices in Lithuania were connected to 4G. No operators have been specified.

“4G Internet is an important part of public infrastructure. Good and affordable access enables businesses and people to achieve more, and this becomes one of the driving forces for the country. Lithuania’s technology progress is visible worldwide, and it is actually our trump card, as we can deliver good quality and affordable price”, says Petras Masiulis, CEO of Tele2.

By 4G speed, Lithuania is the thirteenth in OpenSignal report, ahead of its Baltic neighbours, except Denmark (11). Singapore tops the list. The average speed demonstrated by Lithuania is 29 Mbps, to compare with 45.9 Mbps of Singapore. OpenSignal summarized the measurements carried out by people having used its Internet speed measurement service. This technology enables to evaluate the experience of using the communication, however it cannot ensure a full and comprehensive picture of the actual availability and speed.
