The International Children and Youth Folklore Festival
Since 1992, Whit Sunday were celebrated in Smilgiai ethnographic homestead, where participate schools and culture centre’s folklore ensembles of various ethnographic regions, national art groups, chapels. The main goal of the festival is to foster ethnic traditions of culture, customs, musical and choreographic folklore, to popularize and activate the activities of folklore collectives, to promote the transience of traditions. This festival reveals living traditions of local area. To the festival held in 2018th, invited 20 children and students folklore groups from different regions of Lithuania and foreign countries. During the festival there will be presented performances of children and youth folk groups, educational programs of traditional crafts and culinary heritage, and necessary tradition of Whit Sunday - omelette baking.
While preserving the cultural identity of Lithuania, the festival dedicated to the Centenary of the Restoration of Lithuania’s Independence.
