I. Laurs – among the top 25 leaders in European technology

May 9, 2011 - One of the world's most influential business magazines the Wall Street Journal Europe has announced the top 25 leaders in European technology. The prestigious list includes  Ilya Laurs, founder and CEO of the GetJar, a store of mobile apps for all platforms. The Lithuanian entrepreneur finds himself in the vicinity of the owners of the global giants such as Skype, Google, SAP, Microsoft, Kaspersky Lab, Facebook, Cisco and others.

The Wall Street Journal notes that the Lithuanian has developed the world's largest mobile application store that is not tied to a particular manufacturer or system.   GetJar enables applications developers to reach tens of millions of users around the world, and the users get access to  more than 150 thousand applications.

"Each award,  especially when it comes from internationally established experts in business as The Wall Street Journal, is a great honour. It also proves that we have chosen the right business path by focusing specifically on an open model "- says Ilya Laurs.

The European technology leader award by the Wall Street Journal Europe has not been the first international recognition to  Ilya Laurs and the GetJar. Last year, the company was selected by Time magazine as one of the "10 Start-ups That Will Change Your Life."  He was granted the title of the Technological Pioneer 2011 by the World Economic Forum, and the telecommunications news and survey leader Informa Telecoms & Media " listed Ilya Laurs among  the Top 40 most influential people in mobile communications.
