Lithuania remains the leader in Europe in terms of optical fibre coverage
In Lithuania, optical fibre connection is accessible to the largest proportion of the population, announced the Fibre to the Home (FTTH) Council Europe on Tuesday. Lithuania has retained the first place on the FTTH Council Europe rating.
As announced by the FTTH Council Europe, penetration of optical fibre in Lithuania, at the end of June, reached 26.6 per cent of all households.
In terms of this indicator, Lithuania is ahead of Norway and Sweden, where penetration of fibre is lower than 15 per cent, as well as of Slovenia and Russia, which conclude the list of top-five countries.
According to the rating, Latvia ranks eighth and Estonia – tenth. In both of the latter countries, penetration of fibre was lower than 10 per cent.
