Lithuanians get gold in European Rowing Championship
Saulius Ritteris and Rolandas Maščinskas have succeeded in winning gold medals in men’s double sculls at the European Rowing Championship in Bulgaria.
Saulius Ritteris and Rolandas Maščinskas have won gold in men’s double sculls at the European Rowing Championship in Bulgaria. On Sunday, the Lithuanian rowers broke the distance of 2000 m in 6 minutes 23.05 seconds, being 1.85 seconds ahead of the Serbians Marko Marjanovic and Dusan Bogicevic.
Bronze went to Russia's pair Artiom Kosov and Dmitry Chmylin: 2.82 seconds behind the Lithuanians.
The other finalists: Ukrainians (6:30.78), British (6:41.96) and Italians (6:42. 62) fell short of making it to the podium.
Men’s and women’s single scull competition have also seen the World Junior U23 twice champion and Mindaugas Griškonis.
Mindaugas Griškonis seizes gold and Donata Vištartaitė – bronze medal at the European Championship
It was the second gold medal in the European Championship for single sculler Mindaugas Griškonis (the first one was won in 2009), who covered 2000 m distance in 7 minutes 02.74 seconds.
Silver medal went to German Falko Nolte, and bronze to Croatian Mario Vekic.
