A project engaging the people in Lithuania to thank the compatriots and foreign friends for their achievements benefiting Lithuania.

Informational and audio-visual products as well as information campaigns inspiring pride in one’s country, engaging in the Centennial celebration, and increasing the global visibility of Lithuania.

We all have people in our lives to thank and acknowledge. Lithuania, our state, has also had friends along the way, whose help, advise, support and cooperation has accompanied our historical moments and achievements. Now, we take this opportunity to simply and openly say “Thank you”.

On 16 February 2018, Lithuania will celebrate the 100 years to the restored statehood. In the run-up to this event, Lithuania launches the “Ačiū” (“Thank you”) campaign.

Personalized “Ačiū”/“Thank you” postcards will be sent out to those who have contributed to Lithuania’s success. This simple human action also serves as an introduction to the upcoming important celebration in 2018.

The campaign started on 29 March, a historic day of Lithuania’s accession to NATO. The NATO and EU memberships were the most recent historical achievements of our state. We wish to celebrate this by remembering those who were with us at this important moment.

This is a story of two bright twentieth-century Lithuanian interwar women. Polish countesses sisters Chodakowski – President's wife and Prime Minister's wife Jadwiga devoted their lives to the creation of the First Republic, often took the liberty to repair their husbands’ political errors. The influence exerted by the sisters on the social and political elite environments is indisputable. US Ambassador Preston made a following note: „The fate of Lithuania is largely in Smetoniene and Tubeliene’s hands.“

In 1990, every boy in Lithuania watched VHS karate action films and wanted to be a super hero. The fight for Lithuanian independence in 1991 gave a group of young men the chance to do just that. The L-Team is a partly-animated, feature documentary about a dozen hand-picked teenage boys who formed the first ever SWAT-like squad in 1991, just months after Lithuania declared its independence. Without proper training but with extreme courage, they were willing to stop Soviet tanks with their bare hands and the kicks they had seen on VHS movies.

Dramatic exile to Siberia, Lithuanian book smuggling, various movements for independence - all of it is encoded in the beautiful stop motion pictures, which are inspired by the works of Lithuanian painters, who worked during the Soviet time.

This film is a witty tale about the first encounters of American Lithuanians with their occupied motherland. Their experiences, as the feelings of those who waited for them in Lithuania, now appear strange, charmful and sad. The images of their occupied homeland, documented in amateur films, reveal the reality of the Soviet past, the mentality of the exodus, and the distinctive comprehension of Lithuania at the time.

Film is based on a true story of a priest and writer, journalist and Fraciscan monk Juozas Tumas Vaižgantas. A touchstone of pre-war independent Lithuania, his personality embodies the idea, that a modern state is first and foremost a cultural project. His good-humored posture and deeply Cristian values created a legend of genuinely free personality, unstoppable as the voice of conscience, the inexhaustible negotiator between the indissoluble positions. The legend of Tumas’ life and work has inspired many to resist the attempts of enslaving one’s mind.
